Department overview:

The Credit Risk Infrastructure (CRI) function sits within Credit Risk and plays a critical role in the executing and managing day-to-day operational activities within Credit Risk Management. It provides support to the regional Credit Risk Management teams and regularly interacts with Global Markets, Finance and Compliance/Legal to ensure timely and accurate production of Credit Risk metrics. The function is responsible for the monitoring of controls on the core processes and taking timely action to resolve concerns and prevent further occurrence. The function is heavily involved in the change of key systems and processes that impact the ability to monitor the firm's Counterparty Credit Risk exposure.

Role overview:

This is an exciting opportunity for an associate to join the Infrastructure team and apply a range of problem-solving skills to help improve and strengthen the operational framework for credit risk management. Reporting into the Head of CRI EMEA, the associate will develop their knowledge base across Credit Risk Management and work closely with multiple functions and stakeholders across EMEA and the global business.

Primary Responsibilities:

Provide operational support as required to the Credit Risk officers based in EMEA (London, Frankfurt, Luxembourg and Paris)
Interact with various groups within the bank to resolve upstream issues impacting Credit Risk model outputs e.g. trade bookings, legal documentation setup etc.
Day to day responsibility of Credit Risk number production including validation of exposure movements, working with IT to ensure that batch issues are resolved on a timely basis
Execute control processes on month-end capital runs and act as an additional point of contact for the regulatory reporting team on associated issues
Execute and monitor Credit Risk controls and key risk indicators for the EMEA region, working with Credit Risk officers to ensure the timely resolution of issues/breaches
Manage the onboarding of new counterparties into Credit Risk systems and managing controls on existing counterparties ensuring timely resolution of issues that may arise
Management of regional data quality issues and identification of adjustments to Credit Risk metrics
Delivery of associated Credit Risk infrastructure MI reporting & dashboards to regional risk management and deliver bi-weekly calls with CRM
Involvement in the change management of Nomura's Credit Risk IT systems being able to articulate business requirements, manage functional changes and participating in regression testing
Drive efficiency in CRI whilst strengthening controls through the identification and delivery of process improvements
Participation in Credit Risk working groups and committees as required
Perform adhoc analysis requests, data extractions and reporting tasks on behalf of Credit Risk Management

Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:

Essential

* Bachelor's/Undergraduate University degree
* 2-4 years of experience in Credit Risk operations or a regulatory reporting environment within a financial services institution
* A strong understanding of the trade lifecycle, financial products, counterparty Credit Risk fundamentals and CVA
* Working knowledge of the European regulation that Nomura is subject to, in particular the associated Credit Risk capital charges
* The successful candidate will be:
* Proactive, naturally curious and keen to learn
* Details oriented, well organised and able to work collaboratively as well as on their own
* A clear communicator, both written and verbal, who is able to communicate complex issues to stakeholders of varying seniority and/or proximity to a process
* A controls and governance focus with a process improvement mind-set
* Strong Microsoft Excel skills with some programming capability in VBA, Python and/or R

Desirable

* Previous experience using data visualisation tools such as Tableau or Power BI, as well as manipulating data with Alteryx would be desirable
* Good data analysis skills with an ability to manipulate large data sets using the above tools and SQL
